Those who can, do.
Eva and Louis Toban, my parents could and did. They were big supporters of the State of Israel, Congregation Schara Tzedeck in Vancouver and many non-Jewish organizations.
I moved to Edmonton in 1951 where my husband, Tevie z"l, and I donated our time, skills, and eventually funds to the Edmonton Jewish community and many local organizations, particularly in the arts.
Leaving a legacy for the Edmonton Jewish community is very important to me, whether it be through the annual UJA campaign or our new JCC. I am very pleased to have established endowment funds to support both.
We are a relatively small Jewish community, but it’s here that we raised our three children and saw our 11 grandchildren grow up, and now some of our great-grandchildren. I want to ensure that they, and all Jewish Edmontonians, have a strong community to encourage and support their Jewish life.
