My granddaughter Marley just turned 10, and The Lion Behind the Pin has been a wonderful way for me to share with her the importance of tzedakah, tikkun olam and my deep love for the Jewish community. We talked about how fortunate we are to be loud, proud Jews and how important it is to give both our time and resources to help others, strengthen our communities, and support Israel. We also discussed l’dor va dor- the passing of our values from generation to generation.
I told her how meaningful it would be to me if, as an adult, she carries these values forward through her own actions and generosity. Nothing would make me prouder than seeing her continue this tradition and one day proudly wear my Lion pin, symbolizing the enduring bond between our generations and our shared commitment to the Jewish people.
