When I first came to Seattle in 1990, I made it a priority to become involved in the Jewish community. I was new to the city and looking to build friendships and connections with other like-minded women. I was drawn to the Federation’s programming for Jewish women and Women’s Philanthropy, but what I discovered was far more meaningful than I expected. Through my involvement, I found not only lifelong friendships, but also a deep sense of belonging and purpose.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with and mentoring new and emerging leaders, helping to build a leadership ladder that strengthens the Federation and our community for generations. As a leader in Women’s Philanthropy, I have witnessed the power of women coming together to strengthen Jewish life and create lasting impact.
Being a Lion has allowed me to put into practice the values of tzedakah and tikkun olam. I am especially proud of my involvement chairing Federation's Camp Scholarship Committee, helping ensure that Jewish children can attend Jewish overnight summer camp regardless of financial circumstances, giving them the opportunity to build strong Jewish identities and lifelong connections.
My Lion pin symbolizes this commitment. It reminds me that every gift, every act of service, and every effort to engage others contributes to something larger than ourselves. It makes me proud to stand alongside extraordinary women who are investing in our shared future, and I hope to pass these values of generosity, community, and responsibility on to my two adult daughters.
