Vice President, Community Relations, Jewish Federations of North America

Evan R. Bernstein is the inaugural Vice President of Community Relations for Jewish Federations. His community relations team aims to help communities strengthen civic and interfaith engagement, counter antisemitism and rising hate, and advance the values, interests, and security of their Jewish community.

Prior to joining Jewish Federations, Bernstein served as CEO and National Director of Community Security Service
(CSS) leading its professionalization and significant national expansion.  He developed formal partnership agreements across the Federation system and overall Jewish community including the Secure Community Network and the Community Security Initiative of New York. 

Bernstein has over 25 years of nonprofit experience that includes serving as Vice President of the Northeast Division for the ADL. He developed deep working relationships that included the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force, the Mayor of New York, Consul General of both Haiti and Mexico, the NAACP in New Jersey and the national Clergy for Safe Cities. In 2019, The Bridge Multicultural Advocacy Project of New York honored Bernstein with their annual Unity Award for his work in long time work in community relations and combatting antisemitism.

Bernstein was also the State Director for AIPAC in Arizona and worked with
elected officials that included Senator Jon Kyl and Senator John McCain. He recently
was listed on The Algemeiner “Jewish 100” list of people who positively influence
Jewish life globally. He earned a Bachelors degree and played lacrosse at Western
Connecticut State University and earned a Masters degree from Harvard University.
