Joan has been a long-time federation and community leader. She is the Immediate Past Board Chair of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation (MJF). Joan serves as the Chair of the Center for Jewish Belonging and on the Israel Emergency Fund Allocations Committee of Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA).

Joan previously served as MJF’s Annual Campaign Chair, Women’s Philanthropy Board President, and Women's Philanthropy Campaign Chair. She received the Ann Agulnick Young Leadership Award and the Kipnis Wilson Friedland Award from National Women’s Philanthropy. She also co-chaired the ILOJC in 2019 and served on JFNA’s board, executive committee, and Financial Resource Development Cabinet.

Joan holds leadership roles on several non-profit and arts & cultural boards in Milwaukee, including The Milwaukee Art Museum, The Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Milwaukee Film, and the Lubar Family Foundation.

Joan is a nutritionist and exercise physiologist, and she worked in the field of corporate wellness prior to devoting her time to family and philanthropy. Joan is an avid runner, biker, mountain climber and skier. She and her husband, John Crouch, have 4 grown children and live in Milwaukee.
